These aguayos from Bolivia and mantas from Peru are vintage and antique pieces from the mid-20th Century and earlier. As you can see from the photos, they bear the marks of time and of their prior Andean owners. Aguayos are traditionally used by Bolivian women to tie around their back as baby-carriers and backpacks. Mantas are blankets, used to combat the crisp air of the high mountain altiplano. These are gorgeous pieces of art and of history that deserve a future of continued use and appreciation.
